"Yeah, it's one button, but it's so SMALL. And I have to reach all the way around to the front of the camera? Come on, I've got email to check."

I'm up for an external mic hack - how complex are we talking? Just an "open up the case and solder in a 3.5mm jack"?

Re: Aaron White

Ya, it's pretty nice. Sam's comments below are spot on. So if you can live with that, well, it's a great camera! Did Nate ever post the Karaoke footage? Would be interesting for comparisons sake!

Re: Aaron White

Mic = worst part about this. You're right though... I tried to apologize for my exaggeration... the second you open the LCD panel, it's 1 button push away from recording. Still, 37signals apologists might think that's "too complex" ;-) Sam... I found a "hack" for putting in an external mic ... maybe we should try this?

Re: Aaron White

I bought that exact camera a few weeks ago, before the Flip CRAZE broke out. While it is surely more "complex" than the Flip, I can go from on to Recording in around 3 seconds with one button push. Open the camera -> wait for it to start up -> press Record. Definitely simple enough, IMO.

It's surprisingly nice for the price. Major downsides: Poor low-light performance, a little shaky with no built-in auto-stabilization (for $130, what would one expect, haha) and AWFUL microphone with no external mic port. All in all though, it's a really nice camcorder. I look forward to more videos!

Re: Aaron White

It's cheaper than the Flip, AND in HD? Dang!
