Aaron White's Tumblog: debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in... - Aaron White

Corollary: if the cleverest coder on the team writes code as cleverly as possible, the rest of the team is in really deep shit.

Don't worry, I've seen all of our code, we're not at risk.

If you ever write code so smart that you can't debug it, do what I do. Think of a guy who's smarter than you, think of how he would debug it, then do that. Works for me all the time.

Ironically, I was searching for me and found you. I happen to do a little bit of programming so figured I'd chime in quickly with a great suggestion.

Haha, I dig it. There's just a sticky edge-case; what if you're already the smartest guy out there? Tough life to live, I bet.

Happy to meet another Aaron White! If there's one thing Google & Facebook are succeeding at, it's making me feel less unique every day :)

Ahhhh. I would say the smartest guy out there doesn't write code... he tells other people how to do it. However, if he did write code... I would say he would have to re-write whatever program it was because he clearly couldn't debug it. If he couldn't debug it, no one could, if he's the smartest guy.

If those rules apply, I hope I'm never the smartest coder because I need to be able to debug my stuff. In realted news; the universe has officially ended.
